Some books are better in the author’s own voice.
An author reading their own memoir isn’t the same book as the one on the page — the pauses, the emphasis, the things they slow down for. We keep a shelf of these and add to it every month.
You’ll find author-read editions marked on their pages, and every one is chosen the same way as the rest of the catalogue: read, listened to in full, and written up by the person who heard it.
